Don Taylor, Sr.
age 73, of Herculaneum, Missouri passed away Friday, September 01, 2017. He was born January 12, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Thelma L. (nee James) Taylor of Herculaneum and the late Ray Robert Taylor, Sr.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his son Don L. Taylor, Jr. of St. Louis, Missouri; daughters Laura Taylor of Los Angeles, California, Dawn Griffin of Atlanta, Georgia and Brandy George of Bedford, Indiana; brothers Robert Taylor of Festus, Missouri and Ray Taylor, Jr. of Pevely, Missouri; sisters Jane Turner of Phoenix, Arizona, Linda (Persey) Rockmore of Herculaneum and Alma Weaver of Murphysboro, Tennessee; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, retired serviceman with Southwestern Bell telephone, member of Amvets #42, American Legion #253, Conservation Federation of Missouri and an avid outdoorsman and fisherman.
Visitation from 4:00 P.M. until the time of funeral service at 6:00 P.M. Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus, officiated by Rev. Martinous V. Walls, Pastor of Buren Chapel A.M.E. Church in Herculaenum. Interment with full military honors at 11:30 A.M. Friday, September 8, 2017 in National Cemetery in Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. Memorials in his memory are preferred to the Taylor-Howard Scholarship Fund at Herculaneum High School.
